Geoff Moore - When I get where I’m Going
When I get where I’m going
On the far side of the sky
The first thing that I’m gonna do
Is spread my wings and fly
I’m gonna land beside a lion
And run my fingers through his mane
Or I might find out what it’s like
To ride a drop of rain
Chorus:Yeah, when I get where I’m going
There’ll be only happy tears
I will shed the sins and struggles
I have carried all these years
And I’ll leave my heart wide open
I will love and have no fear
Yeah, when I get where I’m going
Don’t cry for me down here
I’m gonna walk with my granddaddy
And he’ll match me step for step
And I’ll tell him how I’ve missed him
Every minute since he left
So much pain and so much darkness
This world we stumble through
All these questions I can’t answer
So much work to do
But when I get where I’m going
And I see my maker’s face
I’ll stand forever in the light
Of His amazing grace
Tomorrow, June 22, 2008, there's a memorial service for one of my dear friends who passed away this last year. I can't be there physically but mentally, I've been thinking about him a lot. I've lost several friends and precious relatives in the past few years and today just seems a day to remember them. It makes me realize how blessed I am with the friends God has given me, and even though it hurts tremendously when they're gone, it's worth every minute for the blessings they have given while they were here. One of the things I appreciate is the wide variety of people I've known. Mel, a retired pastor who was a staunch democrat, David, a lawyer and judge, who was a staunch republican. And those still living - Tom and Betty who so love to travel and experience international cultures, my siblings who love being at home and making a nest for themselves and their families - and allow me to be a part of that nest. Those who love to play games, those who prefer to just chat. Those who love to walk, those who love to go for coffee and relax. I'm so thankful for you all. You each bring something new and special to my life. Thank you for being a part of my world, for encouraging me with your wisdom and insights, your prayers, your shared smiles and laughs. Thanks for making my world the rich and wonderful experience it has been.
We in thought will join your throng,
Ye that pipe and ye that play,
Ye that through your hearts to-day
Feel the gladness of the May!
What though the radiance which was once so bright
Be now for ever taken from my sight,
Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower;
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind;
