A Picture's Worth a Thousand Words

It started with a visit to dear friends Susan and David Sawyer

in Albany, New York

Continued with a beautiful wedding ceremony

in New Lebanon, New York

Then I met Mom and Dad in Washington D.C.

The Changing of the Guard in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

One of my heroes -

he really is forming an A

and an L in Sign language with his fingers!

Mom and Dad with one of their heroes

Part of the Korean War Memorial.

The country of South Korea, to this day, keeps fresh flowers

at the memorial as a thank you to those who served.

Mom and Dad in Front of the White House

The "Back" of the White House

This sign was by the White House and I had Mom convinced the Secret Service were coming to get her for blatantly breaking the law right in front of the White House - She's such a bad influence that she convinced me to do likewise! :)

Someone asked me what my favorite part about the trip was and I wasn't sure how to respond. I mean - the National Air and Space Museum - WOW! The Spy Museum - did you know Julia Childs worked for the CIA during WWII? I didn't. Seeing the Lincoln Monument in person - the view from the Lincoln Monument down the Mall to the Washington Monument? Or the Changing of the Guard at Arlington? How do you choose between those things? I think actually it may have been the National Archives - seeing the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of These United States, but then again - the people were so nice and friendly. Everywhere we went, they wanted to help to make sure that Dad could see everything he wanted to see. It was an amazing trip and I'm thankful for the opportunity to see some of our nations history. Now I can honestly say, if you ever do have the chance to visit Washington D.C. - take it!
