Reflections from Turkey

Well, I'm home again from Turkey. It was a nice break. The weather was great. The first day it rained but after that it was sun, sun, sun. We had a package deal to stay at a really nice hotel. While my friends enjoy the night life, I enjoy the day time. I didn't feel comfortable setting off on my own during the day though so spent time in the gym, at the pool, and got lots of studying done. It was definitely a relaxing time. We got together in the afternoons and went to town to explore, spent some time on the beach, and then one day, took the entire day driving around Turkey, exploring some of the sights.

I have to admit my ignorance in not realizing that modern day Turkey was on Paul's missionary journey. What an awe inspiring feeling to see an amphitheater and realize that Paul may have stood in that very spot, speaking about the love of God to those who didn't know Him.

We saw a lot of ruins from many different time periods.

One of the things that Turkey brought to mind was the beautiful way God lays different burdens on each of our hearts. I have friends who have a deep burden for Turkey and the Muslim world, I have friends who have a deep burden for Latin America, others for various Asian countries, and I myself feel a deep burden for East Africa. Isn't it wonderful that God gives each of us a different gift. There are those who go, those who stay home and send, those who pray, those who translate, those who provide medical care, and so many countless others. All working toward the same goal.....to bring Glory to His name. It's an awesome task and we need to be lifting each other up in prayer. Thank you for your continued prayers as I walk this journey of preparation - please let me know how I can be praying for you as well.
